Sustainability in digital construction manufacturing
MiCoB treats sustainability as an engineering outcome: material placed only where it is needed, residue managed responsibly, production planned digitally and project-specific claims published with context.
Material efficiency
3D concrete printing reduces dependence on conventional formwork and supports geometry where material can be placed with greater precision. The practical benefit depends on the design, structural system and production controls used on each project.
MiCoB does not publish universal percentage savings without project-specific measurement conditions. Where verified data exists, it is published with the basis on which it was measured.
Resource use and residue management
Controlled production allows fresh material use to be planned more closely than fragmented site processes. MiCoB also repurposes fresh residue concrete into useful products such as paver blocks and foundation fills where practical.
Printable material development can incorporate industrial by-products such as fly ash where the application, performance and supply conditions support it.
Execution impact
Near-site or controlled manufacturing can reduce some transport, formwork, rework and site-dependency impacts. The actual sustainability result depends on project location, design repetition, logistics, material choices and construction sequence.
MiCoB's position is deliberately conservative: sustainability claims should be traceable to real project conditions, not generic marketing numbers.
